Leukemia is a blood cancer that most often starts in the white blood cells. It triggers the body to make abnormal white blood cells that, over time, clog up the bone marrow. Depending on certain factors, such as age and overall health, some leukemia patients may have a better chance at going into remission with the proper treatment.
