Getting Diagnosed with Leukemia
If you have been diagnosed with leukemia, you may feel worried or anxious. It helps to know the expert cancer team at UMass Memorial Health Cancer Center provides the most advanced treatment options and clinical trials.
Leukemia is a blood cancer that most often starts in the white blood cells. It triggers the body to make abnormal white blood cells that, over time, clog up the bone marrow. Depending on certain factors, such as age and overall health, some leukemia patients may have a better chance at going into remission with the proper treatment.
The UMass Memorial Medical Cancer Center has the only stem cell transplant center in Central New England.
