UMass Memorial Health Donates $74K to Fund United Way Program

-The Shubi Kaur Summer Strong Fund is the health care system’s signature United Way program-

Worcester, Mass - UMass Memorial Health and its employees are proud to once again do their part to ensure Worcester-area kids have a fun and productive summer. This marks the seventh consecutive year the area’s largest healthcare system and safety net hospital will provide funding - $74,000 to be exact – to benefit fun and educational summer programs sponsored by United Way partner agencies. To date UMass Memorial has distributed more than $430 thousand to support fun summer activities for local youth.

“I'm so pleased -- and not surprised -- that our UMass Memorial family of caregivers contributed $74,000 to support the Shubi Kaur Summer Strong Fund even though we've endured one of the most challenging years of our lives," says Eric W. Dickson, MD, President and CEO, UMass Memorial Health. "That shows their commitment to serving our communities has no bounds. Through our stronger-than-ever partnership with the United Way, this fund will continue to provide meaningful opportunities for our local youth, who have also endured profound challenges caused by the pandemic."

These are the local agencies that will benefit from the funding:

  • Boys & Girls Club of Worcester
  • Friendly House
  • Girls Inc.
  • Worcester Youth Center
  • YMCA
  • You, Inc.
  • YWCA Central Massachusetts
  • Summer Teen Nights (40 nights of recreation for TEENS at the Boys and Girls Club, Friendly House, Girls Inc., YMCA, and YMCA)
