Our residency seeks to prepare physicians for whichever career path they may choose: whether in primary care or a subspecialty, in an academic medical center or office practice setting.
The residency experience must represent a careful blend of autonomy and supervision, didactic and hands-on training, and exposure to a wide variety of patients, faculty, and clinical settings. Our program strives to achieve the appropriate balance between service and education, in part by minimizing resident involvement in activities of limited educational value. Our program also acknowledges the resident's need to balance work demands with family and personal commitments. Support is available to help with these challenges.
Our residency program and its teaching venues provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment. That is the way we have always taught residents and will continue to do so.
