Therapy for Families and Children in Central Massachusetts

Children and their families can find behavioral health support at the UMass Memorial Health – Harrington Child and Family Services Center. The center specializes in therapy for families and children ages 4 to 24.

Independently licensed therapists and psychiatric practitioners offer a range of specialties designed to incorporate entire families as part of the treatment. 

Child and Family Services We Provide

Individual Therapy

Your child or adolescent meets one-on-one with a therapist to discuss their thoughts and feelings. These sessions are scheduled at one of our offices or at your child’s school (subject to availability of school-based services in your area).

School-Based Services

School-based support enables therapists to meet with your child at school. This option prevents you from missing time at work or scheduling after-school appointments. School-based services are available in select towns, so check with your school to see if one of our therapists is available.

Group Therapy 

Your child learns and grows alongside others with similar social or emotional issues. Groups are often assembled to focus on topics such as anger management, social skills and mindfulness.

Psychiatric Evaluations 

It can be challenging to decide whether to start your child on medication to address emotional or behavioral problems. Your child’s therapist can help with a referral to one of our psychiatrists to determine if medications may be helpful.  

Medication Management 

If your child is prescribed a medication, they continue to meet with a licensed psychiatrist or nurse practitioner who regularly monitors their medications.

Family Therapy and Family Partners

This therapy brings your family together to discuss issues and concerns in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions foster progress and communication. Learn about our program. 

Parents Groups 

Our parents groups are designed to bring parents together to discuss topics related to parenting. 

Youth Mobile Crisis Intervention
