• Advanced imaging: Single-photon emission computed tomography uses a radioactive substance and camera to produce 3D images of suspected tumors. Radiologists specializing in orthopedic imaging interpret the results.
• Surgery: Most sarcomas require surgery. We frequently use minimally invasive techniques to remove them. You may also need reconstructive surgery to repair structures, minimize the impact on your appearance and restore functioning.
• Radiation therapy: This treatment uses powerful energy to destroy cancer. You may need radiation therapy before and/or after surgery to eliminate remaining trace levels of cancer.
• Medical oncology: We use chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other substances to stop cancer cell growth. Your care may include a combination of medications, some of which attack specific genes (targeted therapy).
