Online Doctor Visits Across Central Massachusetts and Beyond

It’s easier than ever to see a UMass Memorial Health doctor with our online appointments. Virtual doctor visits are a safe and convenient way to get the care you need without leaving home or work. We offer virtual visits for all our specialties, including primary care, cancer, cardiology and neurology. All from the same doctors you see for in-person visits.

How Virtual Doctor Visits Work

We use two technologies for virtual visits: 

  • myChart, so we can gather pre-visit info and communicate with you 
  • Zoom, a videoconferencing tool, for the online visit

Using myChart and Zoom for Online Appointments

Sign up for myChart before your online visit. myChart is our secure, online patient portal. In addition to virtual visits, you can send messages to your provider, get test results, share photos and much more.

Here’s how it works: 

  1. To sign up for myChart, first ask your provider’s office to send you a myChart activation email. 
  2. We send you instructions so you can get ready for your appointment. 
  3. We also call you a few days before your appointment to make sure you’re set up. 
  4. On the day of your visit, go to myChart to find the Zoom link to your online appointment. 
  5. When you click the appointment link, Zoom opens for your visit. 
  6. You can hear and see your doctor during your Zoom visit.

We make “getting” to your virtual appointment easy. Once you download myChart and Zoom, you’re ready for your online appointment. You click on a link and talk to your provider, just like you would in the office.

Safety and Security

Your privacy is protected when you have a virtual visit. We make sure your health data stays between you and your provider. We use a licensed Zoom account, which encrypts and secures your private information. We never record virtual visits.
