Genetic Testing

Some blood disorders, like hemophilia and sickle cell disease, are inherited. If you wish to expand your family and would like to know the risk of passing these conditions on to your baby, genetic testing can help. Our certified genetic counselors explain how testing works and what the results mean for your family’s health. 

Nationally Recognized Bleeding Disorder Services

People with bleeding disorders can take comfort in knowing we deliver the highest level of care. UMass Memorial was one of the first federally designated Hemophilia Treatment Center. Bone Marrow Transplant

UMass Memorial is the only center in the region with a bone marrow transplant[SW3] program. This procedure delivers healthy blood-forming cells to people with certain conditions like anemia and sickle cell disease. We hold ourselves to the highest care and safety standards, which has earned our program national recognition.
