The UMass Memorial Health cardiac intensive care unit provides specialized care to people at risk for and recovering from the most severe heart problems. It is a 16-bed unit that cares for the largest number of cardiac patients in the region.
Conditions We Monitor and Treat in the CICU
Providers in the cardiac ICU deliver specialized care for adults with life-threatening heart conditions, including:
- Cardiomyopathy
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Life-threatening arrhythmias (heart rhythm disorders)
- Myocarditis
- Unstable angina
