UMass Memorial Care Mobile Manager Honored as Erskine Award Winner
Sara Connor, NP, manager of the UMass Memorial Ronald McDonald® Care Mobile, was named the 2017 Katharine F. Erskine Award winner in the category of Health, Science & Technology. Awards are granted to women in five categories annually by the YWCA of Central Massachusetts in line with its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
The Care Mobile provides preventive medical and dental services to medically underserved children and families at 11 community sites and 20 elementary schools in low-income neighborhoods across Worcester. The Care Mobile is operated through the UMass Memorial Medical Center Office of Community Relations and is part of the hospital’s community benefits mission to improve access to care. Ms. Connor received the award for her approach in caring for vulnerable populations and mentorship of her staff and nursing students. In its sixteenth year of operation, the Care Mobile serves an average of 3,300 patients annually.
