Prenatal Consultations for Urologic Congenital Anomalies

If your family is expecting and prenatal scans detect an irregularity in your baby’s urinary system or genitals, pediatric surgeons meet with you before you deliver. We explain scan findings and how to correct the issue after birth. Congenital anomalies include undescended testes, vesicoureteral reflux and ureteropelvic- or ureterovesical junction obstruction.

Advanced Urologic Testing

We use sophisticated testing to accurately diagnose urologic concerns in children of all ages. Offerings include X-rays, renal bladder ultrasound, voiding cystourethrogram and more. Pediatric-trained radiologists interpret the results for precise readings that help your child receive the best treatment for their needs. 

Voiding Improvement Support 

If your child is experiencing frequent urinary accidents, painful urination or an urgent need to urinate, our dedicated nurse practitioner can help. Recommendations may include establishing a schedule for trips to the bathroom or sitting on the toilet in specific ways.  Your child may also benefit from pelvic floor exercises that make it easier to fully empty the bladder. 

Urologic Congenital Anomaly Repair

We repair congenital conditions to improve the function of the bladder and genital structures that did not form as expected. Urologic congenital anomalies we treat include undescended testes, vesicoureteral reflux and ureteropelvic-junction obstruction.

Urologic Trauma Care

As one of the region’s only Level I trauma centers, our Children’s Medical Center delivers the highest level of care for severe urologic injuries. Conditions we treat include kidney or spleen trauma due to car crashes and sports injuries and testicular damage.
