More Than 3 Million Geocaches Are Waiting to be Found
Geocaching is the real-world treasure hunt that's happening right now, all around you. There are 3 million active geocaches and more than 6 million geocachers worldwide, according to geocaching.com. But, what is geocaching anyway?
It's a great activity to get you to enjoy the outdoors any time of year with grandkids, friends or on your own. Using a GPS, you find your way to a set of coordinates (found on their app) and then attempt to find a container (know as a geocache) hidden at that location.
When you visit the website and search for geocaches around your zip code, you'll be surprised at just how many there are. You'll see them on hiking trails, in parks, parking lots, on the side of a street, in trees, under bushes, in big containers and in very tiny ones. You may find something fun inside the cache or you may want to just sign the log and be on your way to the next find.
Not only is this activity great fun for families, but it's also a good way to get more physical activity in while enjoying the outdoors. You can have fun in any season at any time of day too. Check out the geocaching website for more information and to watch a short video.
